摘要：

Natural halogens (Cl, Br, I), emitted from the ocean, influence the oxidizing capacity of the global marine atmosphere, along with the stratosphere; however, their impact on the air quality of coastal cities is currently unknown. In this talk, an overview of the role of halogens in the atmosphere will be given, including the very recent modelling efforts devoted to assess the role of marine halogens on the urban atmosphere of coastal megacities. This will include results from global and regional models and a case study conducted with a set of high-resolution simulations performed using the Community Multiscale Air Quality (CMAQ) regional model, to assess the impact of ocean emissions and combined chemical processes of halogens (iodine, bromine and chlorine) on air quality levels of Los Angeles and South Coast Air Basin.
