In connection to the 10-year anniversary of the Austrian Center Shanghai at Fudan University in Shanghai, the conference “Building Bridges for Science” will bring together Chinese and Austrian scientists in order to discuss trends in research and international research cooperation.

A central topic of the conference will be the transfer the results of research activities into real-life application. The conference is therefore interdisciplinary, involving for instance natural and technical sciences, economic science, social sciences and humanities, art and others. The focus is on the Chinese-Austrian bilateral exchange of experiences, best practices and lessons learnt.

The conference will take two days. Day 1 of the event focuses on the celebrations of the 10-year anniversary of the Austrian Center Shanghai. Renowned academics from both Austria and China give keynote speeches on the importance of international scientific cooperation and the internationalization strategies of their countries or institutions. Day 2 of the event focuses on the transfer of research results into everyday application in a series of workshops and an interactive side event for students. A film screening concludes the activities.

The aim of the event is to strengthen the existing links and to foster the building of new relations between higher education and research institution in Austria and China on topics of joint interest that will in all likelihood have an impact on future trends for innovative research.
